Beetroot is sown in place from April to June once the soil has warmed. Three months later you pull tender roots — the last ones keep all winter in a clamp or cellar.

Direct sowing outdoors is done from April to June.
When to harvest beetroot?
Harvest beetroot from July to October.
The tips that matter
- Each 'seed' is actually a cluster of several seeds: thin ruthlessly to 10 cm.
- Do not sow before the soil reaches 10 °C — cold makes beetroot bolt to seed.
- Twist the leaves off instead of cutting at harvest: the root bleeds less and stores better.
