When to sow carrots?

Direct sowing outdoors is done from March to July.

When to harvest carrots?

Harvest carrots from June to November.

The tips that matter

  • Thin to 5 cm (2 in) between plants at the 3-4 leaf stage: crowded carrots stay thin and forked.
  • Never add fresh manure before sowing carrots — it makes the roots fork.
  • Mix radish seed into the row: it germinates fast, marks the row, and is pulled before it competes.
