Sow pumpkins indoors, in warmth, in April. Direct sowing outdoors is done in May.

When to plant pumpkins?

Plant pumpkins in May and June.

When to harvest pumpkins?

Harvest pumpkins from September to November.

The tips that matter

  • Slip a tile or board under each fruit to keep it off the damp soil.
  • Harvest with 5-10 cm of stalk attached: without it the squash rots quickly in storage.
  • Limit each plant to 2-3 fruits by pruning beyond them — they will be bigger and sweeter.
